MDCAT re-conducted for over 12000 students (MDCAT Result)
Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) re-conducted the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) on Monday at various locations, including Islamabad, Muzaffarabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and international centres in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
Around 12,000 students participated in the exam. Before the test began, the university’s team distributed question papers to all candidates, who expressed satisfaction with the re-conducted test.
Test Details
SZABMU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tariq Iqbal announced the exam during a press conference. The MDCAT retake started at 11 AM in all centres, with 12,568 students appearing. Among them, 10,000 were reappearing candidates. Additionally, 64 students from Riyadh and 60 from the UAE participated.
Participation Statistics
According to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC):
- Islamabad: 10,428 candidates
- Rawalpindi: 211 candidates
- Gilgit-Baltistan: 329 candidates
- Rawalakot: 400 candidates
- Muzaffarabad: 447 candidates
- Mirpur: 629 candidates
- International centre students also participated.
Advanced Measures by SZABMU and PMDC
To ensure transparency, SZABMU and PMDC implemented advanced measures:
- Biometric Verification: Confirmed accurate candidate identification.
- Real-Time Monitoring: Ensured smooth exam operations.
- Strict Invigilation Protocols: Maintained exam integrity.
PMDC President Prof. Dr Rizwan Taj visited Islamabad centres, and officers closely monitored the process.
Reason for Retake
The initial MDCAT, conducted on September 22, 2024, faced objections from candidates. The Islamabad High Court instructed SZABMU to re-conduct the test to address these issues.
