Punjab board introduce new Grading system for Matric and FSC

The Punjab Board has announced a new grading system for Matric and FSc classes, which will apply to annual and supplementary exams.

According to this new announcement, the current grading system will be replaced after 2025. The main focus of this change is to increase the minimum passing marks from 33% to 40% in examinations.

This grading system will initially be implemented for 9th-grade students, followed by Intermediate classes. The grading system is provided for reference below.

Key Highlights of the New Grading System:

No More Marks: The traditional system of awarding marks (e.g., 505/1100) has been replaced with a grading system.

Letter Grades: Students will receive grades such as A+, A, B, etc., instead of numerical scores.

Grade Point Average (GPA): The system may include a GPA/CGPA scale to reflect students’ academic standings.

Focus on Competency: The grading system emphasizes learning outcomes and competencies rather than rote memorization.

Implementation Year: This new system is expected to take effect for the academic year 2025 by IBCC.
